Independent School/Prep School Chances

Can anyone comment n my chances for getting into New England day and boarding schools with these grades and scores?

SSAT: 65%

Grades 3.87 for last year
3.5 so far this year with one C+ in Honors Science

Hook: Sports, recruited

It depends on what schools you are applying to. What schools?

Also, where are you from, do you need financial aid, and are you an underrepresented minority?

If schools are recruiting you, then you have a significant chance of admission at those schools. Have your coach reach out to the coach at the BS.

As others have said, if you are being recruited for athletics, 65% on the SSAT and a B+/A- sort of average will not keep you out of any school. Your chances at any particular school will just depend on how much it wants or needs you for your sport and/or position. Good luck!

I am applying to ISL league schools in New England. I do need aid however, I don’t feel it will be a huge problem. I am multi- racial which means I’m an underrepresented minority.

Multi-racial doesn’t necessarily indicate URM. Generally, you’re only URM if you’re black or Hispanic.

^ Don’t count on much of a bump if you are Hispanic, particularly if your race is Caucasian. Multi-racial is fine if you identify (and look) black. You will get the full bump, whatever that may be for any particular school and in view of your personal characteristics and profile (scores, SES, FP vs. FA, etc.) If you have any doubt about this, I urge you to look through the fancy viewbook of any boarding school, paying particular attention to which students are highlighted in close-up shots. (You can then go back and look at actual percentages of those highlighted students at the institutions and draw your own conclusions as to what the school in question is trying to show.)
