Can some please give me a little closure?im freaking out here.
Which stream are you from CBSE, ICSE or state boards?
cbse sire.
Harvard is a competitive school for everyone. It is hard to comment on one’s chances. If you really want to study here, there are many more top tier schools you could choose depending upon your major. In fact, some schools are better than Harvard for certain majors.
hey i just checked out your profile.i too am a telugu guy it is indeed a small world afterall.which part of the state do you hail from btw?
just go to IIT haha
i think u will get in. hard to beat those stats.
I think you have a chance.
Of course there is a chance but you need to realize that so do all the other applicants who have similar stats as yours. Harvard admits about 10% of their applicants and so no one is a sure bet to get in. There are plenty of other excellent schools in the US to apply to and many other which have the same acceptance rate as Harvard so if you really want to study in the US, make sure you apply to more than one place and include a good school that you would go to with a higher admission rate where you will stand out among their applicant pool. Once you have all your results, you can choose. You don’t want to be left with no options, however, if your goal is to study in the US.
Is that KVPY or NTSE that you’re talking about? I’d say that you have a decent shot at Harvard, but so will many other students from India. The published paper will help you a lot, though. Also, don’t forget to get a recommendation from your research mentor/PI of the lab you were working in
I also glanced through your other thread about UIUC, and if you have a CGPA > 9.4, I’d say you have a pretty good shot at any program at UIUC bar CS and Engineering Physics
@rahuilmars231 nice to know that Telugu ppl are aiming to get into Harvard, setting a trend away from IITs and NITs…my parents are from different parts of the state…I mean “states” lol…but we have lived in Hyd. for quite a while…what about you?
@CHCollege123 indeed.i’m well aware that ivy leagues are essentially crapshoots even for perfect scorers.btw,a significant portion of people might aspire to get into schools like harvard-not just for the intellectual diversity,but also for the concomitant prestige that comes with it.its a stupid approach but that’s also unfortunately the truth.
haha @collegedreamin1 i wish it were that easy.thank you by the way.people like you make me feel atleast a little bit hopeful
@rahuilmars231 Yeah I agree with you! Most of the people applying to top tier schools want to go there for the name tag and do not understand that it takes a lot of hard work to go there and get out from there…
@CHCollege123,I’m from vizag btw
and my point is,if a student has gotten into harvard to pursue a particular major along with another university that is less esteemed,but is way better than harvard for that particular major,they would still go to harvard.prestige and name count more than anything else.
@CHCollege123,and since you’ve been residing in so many places and have had the opportunity to assimilate such an enormous amount of diversity,you should be able to write an awesome essay about you being a collage of cultures,diversity makes you thrive and everything as such,personal conflict about diversity.although trite,it would still be awesome.
