Indian post

really cool!!!

cres, u paki????

Last time I went to that american center (just to visit the damn library), they asked me so many questions that I got frustrated. Then they took away my cellphone, scanned my luggage twice, and demanded Rs 10 to browse the library for a day. I never went back :D

That space settlement thing - how did you find out about it?! there was no publicity here! :( And why didnt you go? Lack of time?

I think our main problem is because there are so many of us, who are much smarter than 70% of the 'non-Indian' applicant pool. If they were to create a matrix of some sort - i think all the top colleges will be dominated by Indians and Chinese.

I got my EAs back and with SAT 1 1490 and SAT II: 2300, I still got deferred... it sux

best hp book is the third one...goes downhill from there...but i'm still gonna read the last two and watch all the movies (even though they don't do justice to the books)cuz jk rowling is the bessstt!!!

blahblah blah blah blah :p

dudes, who saw swades. I am waiting to see it tomorrow

One of my friends happened to re-discover ISSDC in februarythis year, few years back a few students from our college made it to the finals in Florida, i think it was 1999. My friend figured it out somehow and happened to be in contact with one of the old participants, he said it was fun and if you are into it you will enjoy. Deadline was approaching but still, we got started and by the deadline, we happened to submit the plan...Luckily when the results were announced we came to know that we had just missed the finals, to be in the finals you had to be in the top 8, in terms of raw score we were 7th but, there was also some weightage attached to certain other factors, and we were penalized for exceeding the 40-page limit, so we turned out to be 10th out of the 200 or so....thought it wasnt bad really... so we decided that we will start working on it early in 2005, after we are done with everything like SAT, Apps, and stuff.

BUt in end september one of us happened to visit the site was updated and they introduced this new ASIAN semi-final thingy, we had again one month or so, SATs in between and what not, still, we happened to submit the hastily done project by diwali/eid. We didnt put in our best though yet we made it...into the semifinals....well its strange that the rest of the world have to submit the project by march-april...while asians had only a month...dont know why this discrepency....so anyone living outside ASIA can still think of making to the Kennedy Space Station... :)

My fellows just left for the airport, they would have boarded in by the time i finish writing. Well why didnt i go? 1 i was severely raprimanded by my parents for not doing well in SAT for i was focussing on the project and did not well in internal exams...in fact for the 2005 contest...i worked under cover...sneaky me...blew the cover today... :D
2. I am such a lazy bum that i have yet to write my college essay...and get a couple of recs...
3. Cousins are coming from abroad, and there are other family commitments as well...in short iam not going...cant do anything now...

So i am here..i sort of trained another boy instead...he will be going...he always wanted to go to india...a fan of Indian movies...rather a good critic...he also wanted to buy some books from india...hope he will enjoy the trip!...
I will be in contact them via email for if they are allowed to take external help...i willb ehere....on line I had to back up..but still want to make sure they do well ...hope it helps...or i wont be able t o rid myself of the guilt...poor me...

It is a three day event the 8 teams who have qualified will be paired into four competing companies, they will build a settlement orbitting moon... Its like real time..a Professional Engineer will be appointed the CEO of each company, the comapnies will nominate members who will serve as directors...and the company that produces the best work ...will make it to the florida...the rest of the 6 teams ...may be allowed to re-submit it...they should be i think... :)

Should get back to work now....
or it will be no use staying ;p

There was an article about her in today's newspaper (Times of India).. didn't know getting into Harvard would confer such a celebrity status on someone! Oh well....if you're reading this ritumbhara, CONGRATS! ;)

If he's going to buy books in Delhi then he will bee sadly disappointed. I was. All you get is coffee table "decoration" books.... you get the idea.

you have to know where to look

astrix, I looked everywhere (along with a friend who's lived in delhi for a couple of years)... from the street vendors along palika to bigname shops at khan market, cp, ansal plaza....must have gone through at least 25-30 shops....they all stock the same old lifestyle books.

well, the guy is pretty clued up...he even knew how much will the rikshaw wala take to go to the particular market!
:)
He had a copy of those books, of his grandfather isuppose, but htey had deteriorated a lot over the years, and he desperately wanted to have them...hope he gets them...flight left 15 minutes ago ...

Mercurysquad...100% true coz I'm a true-blue Bihari ...but I've never lived there...u no wot they say bout bihar: you can take a person out of bihar but not bihar out of a person
thanx by the way...but just for the record I have not said half the stuff that's in there...

ooooohh celebrities!!
c'mon ppl make way...... move aside

PS: I just noticed that most of the ppl on CC who were accepted to selective schools early had extremely low post counts!! I think its time to try it out!!

Ne1 for Uni. of Chicago??? Pretty high acceptance rate for a good school

Ritz, just read the article - way to go... at least we have you to make us proud. congrats

Yeah me too... it's a sunday so maybe, why not! Even Matt McGann from MIT admission office was waiting anxiously for its release! (blogs.mit.edu/madmatt)

my ma saw it today. she liked it.

adides, I'm applying to the UoC. It's a fabulous place. Especially for economics. And it's not exactly easy to get admission for an international who needs financial aid at the UoC either. And their essay requirements are well, eclectic. I like eclectic.
