Oh everybody goes down in class 11 and 12. Don't worry about it, and I'm sure your record is still pretty stellar. I think they would look at the rank more closely.

And hello...

ME!! I GOT EXAMS. Sucks. I need time for my apps :| I have my practicals on. I really hope the exams don't start till, like, the second week of Dec

Right now, though, we just want our scores don't we ;)

nope i dont :(

just out of curiosity,
what were ur 11th percentage : sucharita?? Astrix?? and Akash??

lets have a contest, who went down the most :D

Winner gets accepted to his/her EA/ED school!!!

I got an 81% in 10th, so I didn't go down that much. Got mid 70's, I think. While all you people went down from 90's, so heh - I lose this absurd contest already.

At least I'm consistent in my mediocrity, LOL

89 class 10 school, 95 icse, 80 class 11. AAARGH!!

oh yeah my school doesnt rank...just gr8...

"oh yeah my school doesnt rank...just gr8..." mine doesnt either, but i requested my CS teacher (who handles all the records). i got my rank : 1/39 Yay!!!

My marks are more like a sine function

My marks over the last 4 years
91 91 89 94 95 85 84 83.6 77

Oh yeah ..,School 10th marks were 94,CBSE 95 -not much of an improvement

Hey,my school doesnt rank either. But my GC tells me that I am within the top 1%.

mine is more like the tan graph :)

Starting from +infinity and steadily moving towards - infinity

lol hello :):)

Omg. are all people on this site toppers !?

It seems odd that not many people are not opting for IITs or IIMs. In my time only the rich people came to USA, and all smart kids applied in IITs or IIMs. Most of the people like us came after getting an undergard from IITs. I am curious. It saves your parents ton of money!!!!

Why do all the smart people have to go the IIT -> IIM way? It isn't the only way to achieve personal fulfillment and professional salvation. I realize you might have got the idea that people here are mainly interested in engineering because of the mention of entrance exams above. But I'm sure you'll agree there's a lot beyond the IIT's <or insert="" any="" other="" engg.="" coll="" here=""> and IIM's</or>

And while there are some truly outstanding institutions in India, once you take up something, you can't really think of doing something else. And you can either focus on doing well in the board examinations or the entrances. We're expected to know what we want to do with our life right after class 12. But I'm not sure. I at least like the flexibility offered by US colleges

My father always feels a little queasy about my applying for a BA and not a BSE. You know what I like? Knowing that I can always switch.

"I at least like the flexibility offered by US colleges" I love it.

I want to study Music and CS :)
There's no place in India where i can do that

hahaha simple fact is its too hard getting into the IITs (thogh I am giving the entrance exams)

Yeah, and that too. I'm not giving the JEE anyway. (If I come across as someone who's not up for that hellishly hard exam, well yeah that's true) I find it pretty ridiculous when people say "at least give it a shot". WTF? Luck don't work there

no it doesnt. You work for it. But ever since my sister did it I havent heard the end of it, so i just HAVE to give IIT-JEE and atleast get through the screening. Anyone else giving it?

IIT huh? Funny how ppl here can even think of trying for the JEE. We are supposed to be the 'enlightened' ones who believe there's life beyond IIT, isn't it?

For record, I appeared for the JEE this year... couldnt even get through screening. Does that mean I can't be an engineer? The amount of work you have to put in to get into the IITs is NOT justified in anyway. We are just suffering on account of our country's population. If admission to IIT and MIT were by the flip of a coin, we'd have a better chance at MIT (16%) than IIT (1.2%). IIT's admission criteria is arbitrary. In fact, when one day the IIT starts admitting students based on their weight, we'll have diligent students attending overeating seminars and THAT will be the definition of a "bright" student then.

IIT is still a GREAT place to be in. The effort you put in to get there is compensated by the fact that you pay less than 1/8 of what you would in MIT. btw if ur overweight u'll probably shed all of it in ur 5 yrs in IIT but wtf its still IIT! Like AIIMS is AIIMS. Any hopeful medical students here?
