one thing i noticed too, the commonapp supplements can be submitted after the deadline!!, finishing up Harvard now.

So did you finish everything except Upenn??

one thing i noticed too, the commonapp supplements can be submitted after the deadline!!, finishing up Harvard now.

So did you finish everything except Upenn??

YES - I'm done with EVERYTHING except one essay for upenn.

btw my recs/school report/fee waiver are still to be mailed out - hopefully by this week :)

And MAYBE I might submit my apps to some other commonapp schools if their deadline hasn't passed and they dont need a supplement (like trinity).....

this is bliss

try Harvey Mudd College, awesome tech school in Cali, deadline 10th Jan, and swarthmore (I think they extended their deadline)

harvey mudds aid is terrible but it is a great engineering college

**** **** ****, I was doing my MIT app and NU app in the morning, I just read my NU app now, it turns out I wrote MIT instead of NU in the why NU essay!!!!!!!

****TTTTTTT!!!! What do I do??
Should I send them an email or call them or resend the Essay by mail!!

take a deep breath.

i don't know what to suggest tho. i suppose you could email and request that you send it by mail (dont tell them the reason specifically, of course) but wait for a couple of hours and see if you still like the idea. that's important. don't rush with the email.

no wait, call. then they don't really have time to wonder, they can just say if it's okay or not okay to resend it.

^ haha very funny!! seriously what should I do!!

see my edit :p

Same here. I put in my MIT Essay B under Essay A. Should I call/email/write?

I dont think so though........ they're smart enough to figure out lol

Hey hello!

Don't worry..I read somewhere on CC that such mistakes do happen -
the adcoms realise that applicants apply to different colleges...just tell them there was a mistake on the common app and that you want to resend the essay

relax hello.. u shud see what i did.. my personal statement in the comapp had this phrase 'apply to my dream skool PRINCETON...' actually i was actin smart n changin d auni name wid every app... but then i sent to a bucnh of em together, WITHOUT changin the pton name!!!!!! talk abt :eek:ing!!!! im cool tho i freaked out at first.. merc suggested dat LACs mite find it offensive.. well i dont giv a tiny rats ass!!! :P
lol.. so u c.. there r bigger idiots out there.. ek dhoondo, hazaar milenge LOL ;)

I typed out a note and I'm resending the essay, by normal mail and email.

thanx ppl!!

hey merc the essay is actually very general abt robotics (which NU specialises in), but I was thinking about 6.270, the whole time I was writing it, so I ended up putting MIT. HOW DUMB OF ME!!
Lesson Learnt: Sleep atleast for 3 hrs before submitting your app.

Calling is probably the best idea.
People seem to be really slow about responding to email.

 You "dont give a tiny rats ass" to those LACs or to what I say? Cuz if it's the latter, you're in serious trouble honey :p

Btw what I said is true IMO. Ivies and other prestigious schools might not mind it, but for small liberal arts colleges, reading such a thing in an essay might be a big plunge for their ego. And not to mention, it would mean printing "YOU ARE MY SAFETY" in bold across the page.

well wat do u suggest i do now then :P cuz watever it is, im NOT doing it.. i cant email/call 18 colls n tell them im abt to resend my essay...PUHLEEEEZ!!!

:) and I thought that I was the only 1.
It happened to me during the EA round where I put Georgetown in place of Chicago. I called Chicago and talked with the girl who picked up the phone. It was evident that she was a student, so i kind of bs'd with her about apps, chicago, deep dish pizza, etc. and hung up - but not before I got her name.
I called back in 2 hours, asked for her and reminded her that we had talked before couple of hours ago. I told her that I just submitted my app and screwed up my essay and she was very helpful. I email her my edited essay and she replaced it on my online app, while I was still on the phone. It was awesome (except i have to tk her out for dinner, if i land in UoC ;))

oh cool!! NU babes here I come!! ;)

oh wait, with my 'good luck', It'll definitely be a guy on the phone.

hey can anyone help me with this question on the financial aid application form....it asks me what is the total amount of money you expect to have with when you arrive at your institution? do they mean how much money ill be carrying with me or what??

no it means the total $ in traveller check, cash, checking acct, $ available for wiretransfer etc
basically the total $ that you have at your disposal tht they can tk away from u

also to all those who have screwed up on their apps.

Remember, the actual decision makers are not going to see any part of your original application (most of the time). As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts, it goes through couple of filters before it gets to the decision makers and those mistakes might be ignored, corrected or frowned upon much before
