Indian Students - Here!

@Indijat Okay. Congratulations btw

Hi,

I got accepted to:
University of Minnesota (Twin Cities)
University of Illinios, Urbana Champaign

Journalism and Media Studies.

I have got 2080 in SAT, 9.4 CGPA in 10th (CBSE), some good ECs - Media related.

I would like to know how to apply for Financial Aid/Scholarships, etc for these two colleges.

FAFSA is not for International students, right?

I have also got accepted to some good colleges in UK, 3 in fact:
University of Sheffield
Bournemouth University
Oxford Brookes

If I dont get Financial Aid, US colleges may not be affordable for me.

Please give your comments.

Thanks!
Akshay

If anybody out there has any questions feel free to slide in a dm, or tag me on this chat. I have helped international students with their application (answering questions etc), so feel free to contact me.

@skyblade1234 When did you submit your UMich app?
I applied on feb 1st. Will that put me at a major disadvantage? :confused:
Here are my stats:
SAT 1 - 2180 (740 CR, 780 M, 660 WR)
SAT 2 - 800 M2, 780 Chem
Grades :
9th GPA - 9/10
10th GPA - 10/10
11th - 92.4%
Mediocre ECs and essays

@oreolover123 , I submitted my application by the Early action deadline which was November 1. Personally speaking you did submit your application pretty late close to the deadline, but as long as they accepted it, you’ll be in the regular decision pool, so you may likely hear somewhere in March Latest April, your stats look pretty solid, but hey, this is Umich were talking about.

@oreolover123 no!! As Umich isn’t rolling, there is absolutely no disadvantage!! Gud lucK!

@skyblade1234
When did you apply to OSU? Congratulations on all the acceptances.

@blaugrana9 I submitted all my applications by November 1, with the exception of UT Austin which I sent in late November. Thank you!

@skyblade1234 Ahh. I submitted mine by Nov. 1 just to realize that there were passport copies and financial docs to be uploaded via their uploader. I completed that in Jan.

@blaugrana9 yeah I realized that at the last moment too, but got them in fortunately. When I called, I was told that those documents are also part of the application, so they would have probably only started reviewing it once all the docs were in, as you said Jan. but I’m pretty sure you’d be hearing from them soon, good luck!

Just received an email from University of Minnesota that i’m going to be receiving the Gold Global Excellence Scholarship! :smiley:

@pallavijaniani Damn, congratulations!

Anybody here going to the University of Minnesota Admitted Student event in Mumbai today?

@blaugrana9 How i wish i could! I can’t even go to the delhi one which is nearer! Please do post here how it was if you’re going.

I’m contemplating. Probably won’t attend, let’s see.
I’ll fill you in on the details if I do change my mind.
