@oreolover123
Congratulations on your acceptances
Especially UIUC
I envy you
My list is
Purdue (accepted)
Wisconsin Madison (accepted)
UIUC (Denied) :’(
Gatech
UWash
Haven’t yet applied to -
NUS
NTU
I had my application for VAtech ready but as I got accepted from Purdue I didn’t submit that application.
@KjInternational I’m also interested in mathematics and statistics. UMich has much better programs for both
Also, UIUC CS is only slightly better than UMich CS i think
@KjInternational idk if this will make you feel better but- a lot of my (very) talented friends didn’t get in even though they were much more accomplished than me
Was UIUC your first choice?
@ub1997
I know
Many of my friends also got waitlisted but this was my 1st choice college :’(
@oreolover123
Not that much exposure as far as I know
And CS is better in US and Singapore
Not sure
As it is I have had plans for US only and am considering Singapore too
And one more reason might be that I have none of my friends applying to Canada neither do I know anyone there. On the other hand I have a lot of seniors in the US and Singapore.
@KjInternational , hey I’m from Singapore (studied here for 14 years) and I may help with your predicament. Singapore has a huge Indian community no doubt, but I honestly believe you can’t beat education in the states. Sure Singapore colleges are ranked highly, but this does not necessarily mean it’s good. Sure the profs are world class, but personally I don’t think you would get the amount of exposure that you would get in the states, partly because why I want to head back to the states, for simple reasons
By not forfeiting education, I’m opening my horizons with a larger contact base. I’m not in any way negating sg unis in any way, just providing my opinions. You could look at the alumni networks yourself
But do make a decision based on your own accord, and also do some research on the unis, I wish you all the best
