Good luck, Tenor Dad! It came at 9:08 this morning.

It certainly is “us.”

My daughter just called IU and they said they were still working on some of the scholarships and would let her know her answer by tomorrow. Another day of waiting!

t-boneParent, Good to have another bone player join. My son is a freshman at IU studying bass trombone and we were going thoough the same process this time last year. Your son got into some very good schools. Saw the Alabama trombone choir at Eastern Trombone Workshop about a week ago and the professor there is a great teacher. Northwestern is a great trombone school as well so hopefully your son will get some good aid from them. Who is he hoping to study with at IU if he goes there?

I just called the Jacobs Office of Admissions and asked about when to expect scholarship notifications (to the extent that S might be getting anything). I was told “they are still working on them and will be sending them out today and early next week”. I was further told that if we “don’t hear from them by the end of next week to give them a call.” I also confirmed that the notifications will be sent via e-mail. What did I learn from this exchange? They’ll let us know sometime soon! Aren’t you glad you wasted 20 seconds reading my message?

Thanks, TenorDad. We’re waiting anxiously also.

Our email came! YES!

YES! from here too! A huge relief. Makes the waiting for Eastman a easier.

We went through this process last year with IU/Jacobs and didn’t get a letter so we called. I was told that my son did not receive a merit music scholarship. A few weeks later the chairman of the department called my son to see if he had made a decision. My son mentioned that he was considering his options (UNT, SMU) and that money was going to play a part in the decision. The chairman said he would see what he could do and a couple of weeks later my son received some music merit $$'s. Never hurts to be honest and ask! My son is VERY happy with his decision to attend IU and couldn’t be in a better place with awesome percussion faculty.
