Hey everyone! I’m a new College Confidential, but as college decisions are coming up I decided to get online to ask some other students. My dream school is the Kelley School of Business. Unfortunately, because of my freshman year, my GPA is not as high as it should be. Ever since I have had an upward trend coming from a 2.7 Freshman, to a 3.65 Sophomore and a 4.16 Junior year. I have had medical issues regarding severe migraines which kept me out of school for weeks at a time that also hurt my GPA. My current scores are below:

GPA: 3.5 now, 3.64 at the end of First Semester Sr Year Due to Easy High Weighted Classes (i.e. AP’s)
ACT: 32
ACT Writing: 12

I am an Eagle Scout and have been on the debate team at my school, a top 10 national contender, for my entire time at HS. My school is in the top percent of all schools in the nation. I know about the petitioning process, so at this point, is it still possible for me to get direct admit into the program? Thank you all for your time.

Why do you want direct admission? Can’t you just enter Kelley after your freshman year?

Unless I’m misunderstanding your question, I don’t really see any problems with your GPA or ACT. You’ll definitely get into IU itself, and from there you can just enter Kelley after a year or two, right?

Multiple reasons. You get a head start on the business curriculum, you don’t need to maintain as high a GPA, you can skip a few basic gen ed classes, and it gives you a faster track to graduate.
