Indiana Vs Wisconsin for Business

Hi there,

I am accepted for Indiana and Wisconsin as a transfer, and I want to major in Business Marketing

However for both schools I have to stay in the general college for at least 1 semester before applying for the bschool.

Which one should I go? WHich has a better program and career prospect?

For Indiana:
- Bschool is more well-known in US but the university is less popular in HK & US
- possibly more employment and internship opportunities
- probably easier to get in BSchool (I heard that having 3.0 is a no-risk application)

For Wisconsin:
- The University itself is more well-known in US and my country (HK), but BSchool is not
- I guess Indiana has more connection with jobs and internships
- harder to get into BSchool (average GPA is 3.4-3.5, and I heard UWis is a difficult school, so I will be screwed if I can't get in)

Any comments is appreciated.

For marketing UW is better. Placement is very close to even overall. Nearly the same average salalry, etc.

Indiana- stronger overall B-school rep and the slight difference in rank of marketing program won't matter.

The diff is tiny.

From US News Ugrad business

Indiana University–Bloomington (Kelley) * 4.0
U. of Illinois–Urbana-Champaign * 4.0
Washington University in St. Louis (Olin) 4.0

Cornell University (NY) 3.9
Univ. of Minnesota–Twin Cities (Carlson) * 3.9
Univ. of Wisconsin–Madison * 3.9

Thanks guys.

My first concern is that I heard a lot of good comments about Indiana, But Wisconsin seems to be more well-known in US and esp internationally. I think in HK, my home country, Wisconsin is more recognized (probably because of the higher national ranking for the University in general and more HK students go there)

Another concern is that if I can get into the BSchool after I transfer. Though I am having a 4.0 (at a community college), but 3.4 - 3.5 at UWisconsin is not easy.

And it seems like I like Indiana better because I contacted the school and the people there seem really friendly.
