Indians at Williams

I was an accepted student at Williams, and when I went to Previews, I absolutely loved the school but was a little disturbed by the lack of South Asian students on campus (esp. Indians), since I am Indian and would want to at least have a few people of my ethnicity. Does anybody know about the Indian population at Williams?

Keep in mind, the category is Asian, non-Hispanic, meaning this also includes eastern asians, not just sub-continentals. Officially, this is the best I can do. Someone on campus would have to provide first-hand experiences of an Indian population. From what I have seen, and in one of their admissions interviews, they interviewed and followed JA who is Indian. He said they have a South Asian society, and he seemed pretty content there. Naturally, there aren’t going to be an insane number (like perhaps Cal), but I’m willing to bet the campus has the same relative breakdown as larger schools.

I went to see the Dance Dhamaka and it was a lot of fun. Certainly I saw a cohort of South Asian students. I would ask on the admitted student’s facebook page.

SASA also threw a Holi festival this weekend, and it was a ton of fun. Of course, not everyone there was south Asian, but it’s good to know that everyone is enthusiastic about learning about other people’s cultures.
