"Indicate any special talents or skills that you possess."

This is on my Georgetown application, and I don't really understand what sort of response would be sufficient.

I'm not sure what response would be trivial, and what would be genuine.

For example, If I put that I am a "good public speaker", would that work?

Would stuff like this work..?
- Strong Work ethic
- Good Debater

I think it’s open to interpretation. They want to learn more about you. “Strong work ethic” might not be the best choice. Be more specific, i.e. “great cardhouse builder” .. idk lol.

Can you wiggle your ears or touch your nose with your tongue?

Seriously, I wouldn’t put “work ethic,” but “public speaking” would probably fit. You could put musical or sports talents, or perhaps interesting skills (i.e., if you learned plumbing in a summer job).

“Work ethic” is a personal trait, not a skill or talent.

This may sound oddly coincidental, because it is: I, too, was recently filling out my Georgetown app and came across this question - and I, too, was flummoxed by it. But it gets better… I, too, passed over “I can mess you up with a bo staff” for “I excel at public speaking.”

Weird? Definitely. Almost as weird as the fact that Georgetown hasn’t quite been initiated into the mysteries of the online app yet :-p
