Indicator of acceptance?

I was just wondering if anyone else had stuff listed under the “my interests” tab of their Amherst site? Could this possibly be a good sign? God I’m so excited to finally find out my admissions decision, this wait has been excruciating!

I have that as well. Not sure what it means, though. Fingers crossed!

What kind of interests? From your app?

It says the following on that same page:

As an applicant to Amherst, you can use your “My Amherst” page to explore all aspects of the Amherst community. If you indicated in your application particular academic or co-curricular areas of interest, you will find “My Interests” links related to these programs. If you have applied for financial aid, you should check your “My Amherst” page regularly for notices from the Office of Financial Aid regarding your financial aid application. If you receive a letter of admission from the college, you will want to review the “Programs for Admitted Students” Web page to learn about upcoming events.

Oh well…

If you’re talking about the academic interests section which shows the subjects you put on the commonapp, then they’ve been there since the very beginning, when you first got the login information, before adcoms started reading your application. It doesn’t mean anything. Sorry
Every year, people diligently search for tiny indicators of acceptance on myamherst or acdata or the financial aid site or whatever and it never amounts to anything. I know it’s hard (trust me, I’m suffering along with you), but we just have to wait for the email.

Man! I really got excitied there for a second :frowning:
Well, I guess we’ll all know definitively one way or the other within the next week or so…

Does anyone know when we find out, exactly. I’ve heard a bunch of different dates.

This is on another thread, but I know we’re all wondering… The short answer is no, we don’t know definitively when decisions will come yet. Traditionally, decisions come the last Friday in March (last year was the 26th, this year the 25th), but there’s no hard and fast rule, only that decisions must be received by April 1st. Last year, they sent out emails the monday before decisions saying they would be released on the 26th in the “late afternoon.” If we are in fact hearing back this week, we should get these emails very, very soon :)

Ah, thanks for the info. How do you know that we’ll know by the 1st?

That one’s on the admissions website.

Alright, thanks! Hopefully we do find out the 25th… This is killing me.

Well we didn’t get those emails so I

Hmm!!

425 possible spots for the class of 2015. Some of which are Legacy!
Then if you are a sports star in their eyes you
will need to allow for the athletes spots! Yes they do slot for athletes
in each sport who don’t have the grades to get in on their own. That will knock a
few more qualified applicants out.
Chances sound slim for many who want to attend Amherst.

Considering that you will not have a specific skill set when you graduate
based on their loose liberal course requirements, Grad school seems
like a no brainer!! You already know that there is no Grad school at Amherst

Good Luck to All who applied!

@kicksave–I am still hoping I am one of the accepted.

hahahaha metaphy6 i love your response
stop ■■■■■■■■ kicksave

25? Like, 2 days from now? Kid me not? I WANT AMHERST. Please, God, please.

Speaking of indicators of acceptance, does anyone else have this on their Amherst page?

Test Summary

sats, blah blah blah

Placement Tests Date Taken Score Percentile Status Status Date
1

No tests of this type have been recorded

It’s been there for a month or so now, but I swear it wasn’t there at first. Could they possibly be hinting that no tests have been recorded…yet??

God, I’m desperate! :P

@kicksave

That is why Amherst is ranked in the top 10 schools in the nation for sending students to top graduate schools!

Amherst teaches you how to think. The real world loves that.

@natalieisbored…I have that too! But I doubt it means much since some students send in official AP scores and such along with their application

Metaphy, dude, you’re awesome.
Hmmm!! XD

Btw, kicksave’s post history indicates that he/she (I’m leaning on he) is a parent of two kids, both interested in engineering. Maybe he’s one of those parents who think pre professional streams are the only ones that matter?
