Industrial vs Civil Engineering (Urgent, registration tomorrow)

Greetings, I got into UIUC for Civil Engineering. I am going to be a freshman next year. I was wondering whether it would be a stupid decision to change my major to Industrial Engineering instead of Civil. I know Civil is ranked way higher but I feel as though Industrial would appeal to me more, although Civil seems interesting as well.

Basically what I'm asking is, would it be stupid if I do Industrial engineering over Civil? Since civil is ranked 2nd in the nation while industrial isn't top 10 and is a new department in the College of Engineering?

Thanks :)

Freshmen classes are essentially the same and you cannot change majors for a year, so you have time to think about.

I don’t think the ranking discrepancy should be a big deal because its still a good engineering program overall. I am an incoming freshman industrial engineer so I may be biased, but the ranking shouldn’t be the reason to not switch.
