How many of you were rejected by a college that you thought would accept you and accepted by a comparable or more selective school?

I'll start: I received an offer of admission from Wesleyan and a rejection from Vassar. I know the contrast between these two schools is not unusually stark, but it still strikes me as kind of aberrant.

I've always viewed NYU and BC as roughly equal in selectivity. I got waitlisted at the latter and a scholarship from the former. Go figure.

Waitlisted at Boston College and Lehigh
Accepted at Vanderbilt

Anybody else out there in CC-land?

Rejected northwestern and tufts

but accepted ucb (in state), brown, princeton, chicago

accepted Wesleyan and Vassar, waitlisted by American

Rejected by UCSD.

Deferred(expecting rejection as I didn't send more info or grades or anything) at University of Michigan. I'm guessing it was because I didn't get my app in by the ER deadline though.

Accepted at Pomona.

Accepted UPenn, rejected Tufts. I thought Tufts didn't have Tuft's syndrome...

for my friend:
Accepted Brown, Penn, JHU Biomed, Carnegie Mellon [with a hefty scholarship and told he was in the top 1% of applicants]

Waitlisted Tufts

I guess Tufts Syndrome is an appropriate name

Accepted UC Berkeley, Stanford, Swarthmore, Princeton, Pomona, Wesleyan

Rejected UCLA (with legacy status, if that even counts at UCs)

UC Decisions seemed overly arbitrary this year...

Accepted: UCLA, Northwestern, Wesleyan, Vassar, Brandeis, Brown, Columbia, Princeton

Rejected UC Berkeley
(and Harvard, but that wasn't strange, haha)
