Inflation in CC

Is it just me or does it seems to me that chances and expectations to get into top schools seem kinda inflated on college confidential.

That's how the site started - a place to get info on getting into top schools. Which doesn't mean everyone here is a student - or parent of a student - interested only in the elites. My own DD is at a school not even listed in the 'colleges' section of this site. And we're OK with that ;)

CC is what it is accept it.

without CC i wouldn't have known anything. seriously, i want to thank everyone on CC for helping me out..

unlike my friends' parents, my parents weren't there to check my application essays, but you were..

i know now "people" and their stats about the colleges and not just what the school tells you...

i knew when to sign up for ACT/SAT and how many times was good enough..

there was actually a person to comfort me when i was freaking out about decision letters..

in reality, CC was my parents with all the answer to college..

Stats on here are inflated in both respects: 1) they are often exaggerated/entirely made up, and 2) they do not represent the general population--just the general population applying to elite schools. And even that is debatable.

But at the same time, as katliamom said, CC is meant to cater to those applying to elite schools. It certainly contains info on less elite schools, too.

inflated or not, CC has helped answer so many questions of mine that it's become a great place to check for information. i just try to keep in mind that not everybody's a 2400, 5.0 GPA person and i just try to be the best at what i can be.
