As my teachers have no experience writing rec letters (we don't do that at all in Australia), I was wondering if some of you could post/pm some rec letters your teachers wrote so they can see the sort of thing they should be writing. Especially would love to see some teacher letters about kids that got into Stanford (which is a school that I am ~80 (previously 100%, now less sure)% sure would make it worth leaving Australia if I was accepted).

Anything else you could say about what to put would be really helpful - they want to know what the colleges want to see (but obviously aren't going to lie or do anything dodgy - don't worry, i'm not trying to cheat here!)

There are plenty of examples of this kind of letter on the internet. But it might be easiest for you to start by getting in touch with the EducationUSA office closest to where you live. There are several in Australia: [EducationUSA - Find an Advising Center](http://www.educationusa.info/Australia) The counselors there will have good ideas for you, and should have model letters that your teachers can take a look at.

go to MIT’s website… they have examples of excellent, good and bad letters of recommendations… [MIT Admissions | Info For Schools & Counselors: Writing Evaluations](http://www.mitadmissions.org/topics/schools/writing_evaluations/index.shtml)

Also, feel free to pm me if you have any questions… - i applied from abroad this year :)
