I’m actually going to be starting the BFA Acting program this fall, but I figured I could still post my question here - it’s nothing too specific.

Just curious: any incoming MT or Acting folks out there? If so, have you gotten any important info or anything from the department? I was told at the Stars 101 dealymajig back in June that there would be an e-mail sent out or somesuch - anyone got anything yet?

Hi, theatregeek2010! I’m so glad you chose OCU!

I’m not an incoming MT or acting student (I’m a returning VP student, haha), but I went back through my records (the joys of email) and looked around for some dates as to when I received information.

I got my housing information on July 17th last year–so if you haven’t heard anything yet, don’t worry–it’s coming!

In terms of specific departmental-related information, I don’t think I retained those records (they weren’t really useful after a certain point). Are you a double with BA Music? If so, if you haven’t already, be sure to check out:

which is the page that houses information for incoming students to the Bass School of Music. There’s an incoming student information form, information on music-specific orientation events, dance leveling, the O/MT and choral newsletters (the latter of which contains ordering information on choir dresses!), and a lot more.

If you have any questions, I’d be glad to answer them for you! I’d like to think I’m pretty well-versed. Send me a PM, an email, or even a Facebook message (I’m pretty easily found by my CC username ;)) and I’d be glad to take a stab at any question you’ve got!

Dr. Herendeen has a newsletter full of important information. It is called The Broken Leg and it’s posted a couple places on-line. Look in the ensemble area and Music’s new student area.

He talks about all the shows, the auditions, he writes a thought piece and provides a quick reference list of audition and show dates. It is a good read.
