Info on Goucher?

Does anyone have any information on Goucher? My D applied EA, and likes the area of Baltimore/Towson.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I applied EA, too. Good luck to your D.

My D applied there EA too. There is a section on Goucher in Lauren Pope's book--Colleges that Change Lives. What do you want to know that isn't on their website?

I know that it is a small school, and academically it is very good. Goucher is going to have a required study abroad program for the incoming students in '06. What are the weekends like on campus? Is the campus very quiet on weekends, or do they have a lot of activities for the students? Or do the students tend to participate in off-campus activies, such as going to Towson, or spend time in Baltimore for the weekend?

merly, I don't have specific answers to your questions-- try Goucher on livejournal. You can also subscribe online to the Goucher student paper Quindecim--gives you a sense of the big issues on campus--currently a new smoking ban in the dorms, and some complaints about residence hall decisions on disciplinary action being made without sufficient student input on both sides of a dispute.

My daughter also applied EA. From what I can tell from various sources, the weekends are on the quiet side - not dead, but not exactly party city either. My daughter is fine with that, especially with Baltimore and the other schools so easily accessible by the free collegetown shuttle.
We have been impressed with Goucher, and I think their new study abroad requirement is going to bring them a lot of attention - just hope it doesn't up applications!! LOL!

One question I have is -- they say for EA you'll hear "by February 15" - does anyone know if that means ON Feb. 15 or could the news potentially go out sooner?

Carolyn, I don't know the answer for sure. Perhaps they mean that admissions will send out the notification letters early in Feb. so that the applicants will know by Feb 15th.

They emailed me saying they'd mail out my letter at the end of the month.. and I should be getting it some time next week.

I applied EA so I'm assuming everyone else who applied EA will be hearing from them too.
