Info on Ohio Reciprosity at IU-East

Here's some info that may be of interest for students and their parents that live in the western part of Ohio:

IU-East (located in Richmond, IN) is less than 10 miles from the border of Ohio and as part of their "tuition agreement" offers "Ohio Reciprosity" for students living in certain Ohio counties:

A person may be classified as an "Ohio Reciprocity" student for fee payment purposes at Indiana University East only when he/she has maintained a permanent residence in Butler, Darke, Mercer, Preble, Shelby, or Van Wert counties in Ohio for 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes of the academic session in which he/she plans to enroll.

For those who may wish to get into IU-Bloomington's well-known Kelley business program (or into certain other key majors, such as mathematics, nursing, biological sciences, etc.) at a later point, while keeping costs low during the first two years, it should be noted that transfers are easy from one IU campus (such as IU-East) to another IU campus (such as Bloomington or IUPUI--which also has the Kelley school there) after the first two years--and that the majors I mentioned (business, math, nursing, etc.) are all offered at IU-East.

Doing this would allow Ohio students living in these counties to pay "in-state" tuition for their first two years--and then only pay the higher "out-of-state" tuition during the last two years at IU-Bloomington.

Also, of course, one could just finish their degree at IU-East--and pay the IU "in-state" tuition rate for all 4 years.
