Information Club Sports at UA

Does anyone have knowledge/experience with Club Sports at UA? My DS wrestles, 4 years, in HS and would like to continue in college. DD played tennis, 4 yrs, in HS (conference champ senior year - 4th doubles) and would like to keep playing in college.

They are not good enough to be scholarship athletes but would do well on an intramural basis.

What would you like to know? Club teams typically practice a couple times a week, and have assorted games/matches/tournaments at colleges across the south. The fun of varsity without the time commitment. Each club has a page on the ua website. You can contact the club leaders for more details about your sport. Also, most clubs will have a table at Get on Board Day during Week of Welcome.

There is a difference between intramural (play/compete just w/in UA) and club sports. Club sports tend to play/compete with other university clubs and can be quite competitive. They hold their own conference championships, etc., depending on the sport.

Here is the entire club sport website at UA: http://urec.sa.ua.edu/sportsclub.cfm .
Another good site is this one which governs the conference/championship for some sports (inc an excellent link for club tennis nationally): http://www.nirsa.org/
