Hey, I'm going to be a Sophomore at Stony Brook University in the Fall and was wondering the usefulness of an Information Systems/Economics double major?

I have an interest in Economics and Finance, but I also am very interested in learning as much as I can in technology. Not necessarily just programming, but technology in general. At Stony Brook, the undergrad Econ major doesn't have the most solid reputation, but I feel that reputation is something that can be replaced with self-motivation, rigorous studying, and networking, along with having a high GPA and having a solid rep with professors.

At Stony, there is no Econ minor, only a major, but the major only requires 39 credits. The Info Systems major has a Business specialization that Econ courses can satisfy. Also, some requirements are cross-listed with the Econ major. Therefore, by double majoring, I still have a solid shot at graduating in four years.

Do any of you think this is a useful degree combination?
