OK, so the California Ivies are:

Berkeley, UCLA, UCSF, UCSD, Claremont/Pomona/Harvey Mudd, Cal Tech, USC, and Stanfurd.

UCSD and USC on paper are as good as Brown. But Brown becomes the target of those who "want to go to ivy no matter what", and gets artificially raised in status. I think we can do the same for UCSD and USC.

Here are our assets:

Berkeley : Best grad programs, Best PhD programs anywhere, best research, and greatest number of high performing undergrads out of any university period.

Cal Tech : Best science research around per person

UCSF: best medical research period

Stanfurd: our little brother has grown up to be pretty big

UCLA: International name for the best city in the world and top notch research in all fields. One of the most balanced universities period, public or private.

Harvey Mudd: Science on par with Berkeley, Cal Tech, Stanfurd

UCSD: Science on par with the best in the east coast ivies.

USC: our third quarter surge

We have no friends outside of California except for University of Michigan. Don't forget that. Woo hoo!
