Hi everyone,
So here's my story:
I just got accepted at UCSD's Marshall College as an ECE - Comp. Engr. major for Fall 2012.
Unfortunately, by the end of Spring 2012, I will not be able to complete the IGETC requirement. I will be missing a class from the Biological Sciences.
The good thing is, my CC can partially certify me for IGETC, since I am only missing one class.

How will this affect my coursework when I attend UCSD?
Will I only need to take a Biological Science class when I get there?
Or Do I have to take more classes to complete the lower division requirements?
Or worst, will I be required to take ALL lower division classes over there because of my incomplete IGETC? I really hope that this won't be the case.

I would appreciate it if you guys can enlighten me in regards to my issue.

It won’t be a problem, you can take there. I just got accepted at UCSD’s Marshall College, and I am missing 4 5 classes for my IGETC. I talked to my counselor, and she told me that I can take my GE classes there.

You’ll just need to take the biological science class at UCSD. Marshall has a couple other courses that you’ll need to take to completely finish off General Ed too ([Prospective Transfers :: Thurgood Marshall College ? Developing the Scholar and Citizen :: UC San Diego’s Third College](http://marshall.ucsd.edu/resources/prospective-transfers.html)). And no, you will not have to retake ALL of your lower division classes there simply for not fulfilling one GE category. That would be absurd.

1) Make sure full completion of IGETC isn’t in your acceptance contract, if you tagged it will be.

2) If you are not fully IGETC certified then you didn’t fulfill any transfer transfer programs and you’ll need to take the following for your GE’s:

If you did not complete any of the above transfer programs, you are considered an “Articulation” transfer student.

GE’s for Articulation Transfers:
2 six-unit lower-division courses, DOC 2 and DOC 3: “Justice” and “Imagination,” completed after transfer

2 four-unit upper-division courses outside your major field of study, including one upper division writing-intensive course
Additional lower-division courses may be required after transfer. With careful planning, most lower-division general education courses can be completed at the community college

You can see your College GE and such here,

Under my Admission Conditions, it doesn’t really say that I should complete IGETC.
Just the core courses, minimum of 60 transferable units and 3.00 overall GPA by the end of Spring 2012.

Ok cool, so, I could just take 1 bio class on my first quarter to complete my lower div reqs.
After that, just 2 upper divs and major subjects all the way… Is that right?

Boy, I’m in the same position as you! Missing one IGETC class is the Biological Science section. Some counselors told me I’m gonna have to take extra courses…and some say I don’t. I don’t know who to believe but I’m pretty sure it’s just one class along with the rest of Marshall’s GE courses.
