insight please!

I am considering attending NYU this fall, I was accepted to Gallatin and am interested in math/engineering and international studies. I am sort of the nerdy girl in my high school and am worried that I wont find my niche in the Big Apple. Does any one have thoughts on whether I would fit in here? Pros and Cons much appreciated. : )

I think in terms of being 'nerdy', you'll be fine, but the bigger problem is that NYU doesn't have engineering... Well, they have a joint program with Stevens, but why pay NYU tuition for a Stevens education?

If you are able to, you should attend the University Day reception or one of the Gallatin group meetings. (You should have gotten a postcard about that.) You will be able to meet other students in Gallatin and have access to faculty members so you can ask lots of questions. My son will be in Gallatin in the fall and he is looking forward to finding out how he can pursue his interests. My daughter is a sophomore who started out in Gallatin, but transferred to CAS so she could major in French and Italian. I think transferring is pretty easy as long as you've done well. I wouldn't worry about fitting in too much. NYU is one of the most diverse colleges I've ever seen. The most important thing is to make sure you can get what you want academically for that price! Good luck!

i'll be friends with you! =) lol. yea, like ncmom said, you should try to go to the receptions and meet your potential classmates. i've joined the NYU 2011 facebook group to get a feel for what the students going there next year are like. i'm still debating between NYU and another college so it's pretty helpful to have those sorts of things. and don't worry- i'm sure everyone has a "nerdy" side that nobody knows about.

Receptions help a ton! You should totally get on facebook and join some of the NYU groups too, it can only help in getting a headstart at meeting people for fall

Thank you so much everyone!! I will definitely be attending the Gallatin accepted students day, and hopefully there I can find more information about the engineering with Stevens and the atmosphere at NYU! You all have helped me boost my confidence in this school!! Thank youu!!
