I hate my body's stupid circadian rhythms that make it impossible for me to fall asleep before 1-2ish in the morning. I don't even feel like being productive late at night most days so it turns into a drag and I end up feeling horrible in the morning. It's annoying because I feel so tired all the time and I don't really want to become dependent on sleeping pills. Anyone else have the same problem?

i Use to have this problem and it really ruined my school days. I know it is kind of hard to explain but just try to start a dream. When Im lying down in bed i just think of some awesome dream I can be part of and eventually I fall asleep.

I feel like sh¡t every day. God damn you AP classes…

I used to be able to go till 3 every night, no problem, but junior year I’m crashing. I can’t go past midnight-1 without falling asleep so now I have to try to sleep first, then work the rest of the night so I don’t fall asleep without completing my homework.

It’s 3:45AM. I’ve spent the past 7-8 hours doing homework. I’m ridiculously CRANKY at this point and can no longer walk in a straight line.

Senior year is slowly killing me–literally.

this is exactly what happens to me everyday. I used to get massive amounts of work done post-midnight junior year but now I just end up falling asleep and waking up in the morning feeling like crap. I then go to school and do most of my homework the period before its due.

Yea I cant fall asleep well either, it isnt every night its sparatic. Reading usually makes me fall asleep.

I’m only have insomnia if I’m excited about what’s happening the next day.

I take medication to supposedly make me drowsy and I still can’t fall asleep before 1am. I feel the after effects the next day, unfortunately in the form of headaches and slow response rates.

Every now and then there’s a night where I can’t fall asleep at all. Last night I felt more awake after 2 hours in bed than I did when I got in.

Easiest way to cure insomnia: medication. Another method would be to avoid taking naps. Get yourself ridiculously tired and you’ll start sleeping earlier; eventually, your circadian rhythm should straighten itself out.

Or you can try reading Marx. I haven’t met an insomniac yet who wasn’t completely and utterly crushed by him.

Hahahaha the Marx comment is so win.

Delayed sleep phase syndrome is awesome! My mind is super clear and awake right now.

It doesn’t help that I’m addicted to coffee, energy drinks, and soda too.

Oh yeah I’m def. developing a coffee addiction. The other day I was asking my friends to go to Starbucks at lunch. I’m like, “I NEED coffee. It will make me 1) Warm 2) Not tired 3) Happy, and also it’s yummy. I’ve had a craving for it since I woke up.” Friend: “You’re addicting.” Me: “No I’m not!” Friend: “quo, you just said you had a CRAVING for coffee.” Me: “Oh. Well. OK then. It’s good.”

Huh? Marx’s writing is quite engaging, stylistically speaking. Even if you totally disagree with him, you can’t say he’s a boring writer. Just think of how many of Marx’s phrases are widely known as compared to someone like Locke.

You’re reading too much into my words. Simply put, at 3 AM in the morning, it doesn’t really matter how engaging a writer is. I mean, to be certain, he’s much more engaging than Smith, but any piece of work that requires you to reread a sentence three or four times in order to fully grasp what the author is trying to say is going to put you to sleep in the early morning, no matter how you feel about the subject matter.

Except that you don’t have to reread many sentences. If you want an example of a soporific writer, Marx is about the last political philosopher you would choose.

I recommend Spinoza or Bacon

Bacon makes everything better

Locke AND Marx are boring as all get out.

I was trying to answer Qs on the Communist Manifesto for AP Euro hw at 4pm on a Friday and I kept falling asleep.
