Inspirational Music Story from Haiti

I had seen clips of this Haitian violinist/teacher on the news last week. Heard the full story over the weekend on NPR. I think you would all find it worth the listen! Made me wonder if I could find something within myself to occupy the time/my mind in the same situation.

Wife, School Lost In Haiti Quake, Blind Violinist Vows To Rebuild : NPR

Thanks for sharing. He sounds like he has an amazing spirit - has faced so many tragedies in his life, and keeps going.

Thank you for posting this. I missed hearing it this weekend. A heartbreaking story-- this violinist is a Juilliard grad who has had students compete in the Sphinx competition. He’s done great work in his school in Haiti; his pregnant wife was killed in the collapse of the school (which he built- you can find its website online). Mr. Joseph’s hand was badly injured in the quake and the future of his career is uncertain. His determination is so inspiring. My daughter’s first violin teacher was Haitian and I’ve always been amazed at the quality of instrumentalists emerging from this tiny and very challenged country.
