instate ED chances

I've posted on here before but I figured I'd try again and hopefully get some new opinions. I'm a caucasian female from SW VA at a fairly competitive HS. I'll be applying to UVa c/o 2010 Early Decision this fall.

UW GPA: 3.70
SAT: (first try)
CR: 580
W: 690
M: 620
= 1890/2400 or 1260/1600

SAT: (second try)
CR:640
W:720
M:610
=1970/2400 or 1313/1600

I'm a little worried about my GPA because it is fairly low. However, I take the most difficult courses offered and my GPA shows an upward trend throughout high school. I will be taking AP French, AP Calculus, AP Chem, AP English, and Dual Gov't (all of the APs offered) my senior year. I also will be taking regular Physics and will be in my second year of Latin.

My ECs are decent. Key Club Secretary, Beta Club Secretary, French Club President, National French Honor Society, Magna Cum Laude on Nat'l Latin Exam, Senior Class Rep, 3 years of Varsity Cheerleading and Lacrosse, about 100 volunteer hours, as well as various other clubs (Science Club, German Club, etc). I know I can get a good recommendations from two teachers, one of which is a UVa alum. I also have a very close family friend and UVa alum who will also write me a letter. I am a decently strong writer so the essays shouldn't be a problem.

I am in the top 5% of my class, and my rank is 10/~200. My HS has a strict grading scale: 94-100 is an A, 93-87 is a B, etc. Hopefully my rank will indicate this despite my low GPA.

If you all would let me know what you think my chances are I would really appreciate it. :)

you have an edge since you're instate, but admissions people dont liek to see low grades. if you have a goo first semeser and really good essays tthen you will probably get in
