who thinks there may have been an intelligent species before humans? and they created us. what do you all think? I mean, why would so many idols in different cultures look the same? dragons from china, sphinxes from egypt, easter island, those mysterious creatures in mayan pyramids, buddhist idols, etc. ?

I believe in a Young Earth (call me an idiot if you’d like), so no.

Everything looks the same because we all originated from a common ancestor (in my Christian opinion, Adam and Eve). Therefore, we developed similar symbols and theologies while living together, and as we spread, modified them.

@tomjones: interesting theory. But I think it’s more a testament to how powerful and beautiful the human imagination is

@josh: you’re an idiot.

like in Knowing?

I haven’t seen Knowing yet, but was planning to see it tomor or tonight or something,
but yea, i guess its all just imagination

Josh: W t f? Yeah really… We are only 6k years old. And heaven forbid, GOD created us… No evolution at all… I guess I will ask for your mercy when I am in limbo… Most illogical rational I have heard.

and at Tom: Not really, nice question…

God does not necessarily disprove evolution, nor does evolution necessarily disprove God (this coming from an Atheist, not a Christian :P)

what if those ancient humans with their depictions actually knew about our creators? like, those sumerians with their drawings of weird beings creating humans. i mean, where did all those creatures (dragons, sphinxes) come from anways??? and how bout easter island?? or stonehenge??
weird stuff…
and how bout those tunnels they found underneath mayan ruins?

Yay… Atheism! Well, I am actually a Hindu who does not really believe in half the stuff… But you are correct… What the poster, however, states is total vaporized bull s hit…

I’m more inclined towards Eastern religions than I am Western (Such as Buddhism. Although, I believe, not technically a religion. Someone can feel free to correct me on that =P)

I think I’m missing exactly what’s saying that he’s radiChristian in his post. Even the Young Earth part, imo, doesn’t scream out too loudly.

They had imaginations just like we do.

what if we were created by another being from the 5th dimension who stepped into the 3rd dimension and created us, 3-manifolds in 3-space ?
its like they were watching TV and then stepped into the world of the TV show and created us then went back. they can see us but we cant see them

and that still doesnt explain how those heads were created on eastern island.
but i think the question is:
will we ever find out proof about our origins? about the past?

ngrplz, principalviola: Just going to dismiss it as idiotic? Believe what you will, as will I. I’ve studied evolution and geophysical science. And there are plenty of Christians who believe in evolution. I just don’t.

Okay… Keep believing a lie…

Oh and tell Dumbledore I would like a word with him…

Archaeological, genetic and linguistic evidence, their similarities and differences, gives us an accurate picture of the history of human migration, originating from Africa. Cultural similarities are due to common origin (is it so surprising that so many cultures have creation myths and or associate natural phenomena with anthromorphic or animalistic symbols?) or us seeing patterns where there aren’t (some vague similarities may entirely be coincidental, the existence of some similarities is entirely expected).

YEC is stupid and anti-reality.

i love you guys

Atheists who ridicule theists on the basis of blind faith are hypocrites.

soo…who built those statues on easter island? and how?
who built those massive underground tunnels

True only if they are not Agnostic Atheists. (Which, by definition, means they do not believe in God but are not totally certain there is not a God since they have no proof.)
