My D has been accepted to IUB as an incoming sophomore. Right now, she is living in China and doesn’t have full access to the Web, so I am her proxy and asking questions for her. So here goes:
Transfer students don’t have to pay a $100 enrollment fee; they just have to click on the “intent to enroll” button. Is this legally binding? She won’t be back in the US to visit IUB until mid-April, which is when we plan to visit. Is she taking a big change housing wise not to fill out her housing application now? She wants to live in the Global Village and has been in touch with the folks there, but you never know. Should we fill it out and eat the cost they keep if she decides not to go there.
I have no idea, and it is very unlikely someone on here will know the answer to all of this. Call the office of admissions. They are the authority on this information
I am not sure about the legally binding aspect of the intent to enroll button. However, in terms of the housing,if it is the same as freshman, you pay a $300 deposit and you get $200 back if you don’t attend. In other words, it will only cost you $100 if she doesn’t end up at IU. That being said, my S completed the housing application 20 minutes before the deadline last year and ended up with his first choice in a learning community.
The residential services website has a livechat option that is available Sunday - Thursday from 4-10pm ET. It is in the upper right corner of the webpage. Not sure if it will be live tomorrow since it is the end of the break but you can keep an eye out for it.
