I am an international student class of 2011. I would like to know if it is common place and acceptable for people to date outside their races in american universities. i will be attending a highly selective ivy league university and would like to know if dating outside my race would b considered taboo.

Is there a difference between inter-racial and cross racial?

my bad i intended to put a slash as in an 'alternative' name but mistakenly put 'and'

is this a serious question?
well if it is of course some ppl arent going to like it but who cares most ppl (90 percent perhaps) dont even care

Who you date doesn't matter as long as their human.

welll...most people dont give a second thought...or first to it, so yes...acceptable as any 2 people of the same race

i think it depends on where you are. of course we would like to believe that most people don't care, but different colleges have different types of people, and some have lots of close-minded people.

Interracial dating is socially acceptable in most circles, particularly among college students, although you may encounter some people who question it.

I haven't found anybody at my college that is against it.

At an Ivy I'd say fewer people are going to care than would at another university, and thats not very many anyway. In general the few that do care aren't the type you'd want to hang out with anyway. You'll be fine.

It is culturally acceptable the majority of places in the US. The exception is areas populated mainly by ultra-conservatives, but if you're going to an ivy I don't think you'll be in one of those. It's a non-issue; doesn't matter.

its not the college, its the person

not if you went to bob jones university 2 years ago

Won't matter at an Ivy, or, for that matter, the vast majority of colleges all over the country. Your choice won't bother anyone, even if they themselves would choose differently.

Depends on where you are. I live in alabama and some people think it's bad here. Not necessarily students but sometimes you might get looks from the people that live here. I mean, I never got someone saying like, "You are a bad person for not dating another white person" but sometimes they will give you those Looks that basically mean the same thing. It was rare though, even here. I probably only got Looks a couple times during the entire time I was with my ex (a few months).

Southern states is usually more conservative.

the only interracial mixing i am against is that between pure bloods and muggles.

i keed i keed ;)

@kenshi

why do they have to be human?

i think bestiality is illegal in the us so u can date your dog but u can't have sex with it

Why do we call it conservative, when it is racist and bigotry to look down on people who date people of other races
This oh they are conservative is letting them get away with being bigots and hateful

Why do we act like its okay or accetable because its the south

and why does the persons skin hue matter

this scares me in this day and age that people still would give a second look to two people who are together- just because they don't "match"

to the OP, good people don't care if you don't date "in your race" the ones that do care, don't count
