Interesting Course Schedules

when i read of courses like this it makes me wanna transfer to a prep school. =/

DianeR: those are very interesting courses. How did your daughter become interested in Egyptology?

For those of you guys who have already been admitted to college, where else are you applying?

My daughter did a book report in 3rd grade on a biography of Cleopatra. Her passion just grew from there. I don't think she has ever seriously been interested in doing anything else. People learned that if they had to give her a gift, a sure thing was a book, game, poster, etc. about Egypt. The more she studied, the more she loved the subject. Her only uncertainty has been what her specialty is going to be.

I'm quite an Egyptophile myself and so we have quite a library at home, watched every documentary that came out, etc. But she is way beyond me now in knowledge.

She loves being at Brown because it is the only college in the Western Hemisphere with a major in Egyptology and she doesn't have to worry about distribution requirements.

Well, at the beginning of the whole application process, I was planning on applying to a lot more colleges:
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
MIT
JHU
Duke
Cornell
Columbia
Stanford
Williams
UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSC

After I got into Harvard, I decided to only apply to colleges that I could see myself picking over H:
Yale
Princeton
MIT
Stanford
Williams (Plus UC's...the due date for UC's passed by then).

DianeR: Was the transition from homeschooling to college hard on your daughter?

Besides Georgetown and UChicago, I applied to:
Princeton
JHU
Dartmouth
Cornell
Columbia
Penn
Williams
UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD (They're basically just one application together)

Tchaikovsky I am amazed that you take organic as a senior in high schoo @_@

(Cant take APs till Junior year)...

Organic Chemistry is by farthest the hardest course I've ever taken--it is way harder than AP Physics C e/m. But I love the class with all my heart :).

I was thinking of applying to Cornell, Columbia, and Penn...but after I was accepted to Stanford, I cut my list down a bit (same reasoning as whirl-wind):
Harvard
Yale
Princeton
MIT

Okay, first off--
princetonbound, tchaikovsky, californiakid, and whirl-wind: your schedules are so cool!!! I'm really impressed with that Organic Chemistry class.

As for me, I decided to stick to all the schools I was planning to apply to, even after I got my decision from Stanford:
Harvard
Princeton
Yale
MIT
UCB
JHU
Cornell
Columbia

Ummmmm stanford2010, Physical Chemistry? That is like a junior level college class!! Soo crazyy hahah :).

How are you people so smart? You make me feel like I should start packing for community college and I'm only a sophomore. My school doesnt even offer AP till Junior year.

Anyway so far...

Wow, there are some very cool schedules out there. At my school there are so many prerequisites for all the AP classes that most people can't begin to take any of them until junior/senior year, I hope colleges will take that into donsideration...

I'm graduating early, so I kind of don't have a junior year. My dad says that my schedule for nest year is not rigorous enough, and that colleges will think that the internship is a blow-off class, but I really want to do this internship class because it will give me experience and help me gain connections in the career field that I am interested in. What do you all think about my senior schedule?

Hi, I've been around collegeconfidential, but I never actually got an account until now. Anyways, I finally decided to get one! I was admitted SCEA to Yale University.

directions, I love your classes, but can you explain them a bit more? What school do you go to?

I go to the Hotchkiss School :). Um, a lot of my classes do not have the "AP" label, but the students are expected to take certain AP tests. Virgil’s Aeneid corresponds to Latin: Vergil AP test, Hemingway & Faulkner--English Language AP, Advanced Readings in Roman History --Latin Literature AP. All my "independent studies" are for classes that I maxed out (for example, my independent math class is for students who finished higher math classes above AP Calculus).

directions, you are truly amazing!!!!!!

This is such a wankfest. I would post my schedule, but I'm now discouraged because I didn't take Calc BC as a freshman.

directions do you know someone at Hotchkiss with the initials AA - hispanic male... hes in 11th also

A friend of mine.. just curious
