Interesting discussion on TCNJ and Rutgers

<a href="http://rutgers.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=642&tid=53567819&sid=&style=2%5B/url%5D">http://rutgers.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=642&tid=53567819&sid=&style=2</a></p>

I saw that on the rivals site yesterday. It re-enforces my view that it makes no sense to compare a small college with a large and major research university which stresses graduate education as too often is done on CC.

I agree with tsdad.
The two schools are usually on NJ applicants lists but are really two different animals.
One isn't 'better' than the other....just quite different from each other with much to offer kids with varying needs/goals.

my cousin is the valedictorian at his new jersey high school. his mom told me that he got a full ride scholarship to some college in new jersey but that he didnt want it cuz the school "sucks." which college is it in new jersey that gives full ride scholarships (perhaps in an attempt to keep top students in-state)?

Actually, all the NJ state schools offer a purely numbers driven scholarship which attempts to keep high caliber students in state.
So, it could be any one that your cousin is disparaging.

The scholarships are described on each schools website and are based on a combination of rank and SAT.

Here were just a few cool facts about Rutgers University. Its not the most prestigious school out there, because at some point in time some silly person thought that all new jersey residents should be entitled to a quality education and therefore admission requirements have been pretty complacent
As a school's quality is usually correlated with its selectivity, one can see how Rutgers has gotten a raw deal. But as they say it is relatively easy to get into Rutgers but difficult to survive Rutgers.
