Interesting thing about Brown

I heard from some people that the schools that don't offer a lot of scholarships actually take into consideration (although never admittedly) the student's ability to pay tuition.
anyone else every heard of that?

I have not heard of that, but it actually makes sense, even thouigh its a biased action. A school has to make sure who they are accpeting can pay the fees. I mean if the person has to wrok like crazy to pay fees, they will not be able spend as much time on school. Also they might accept a person who can't pay for the school, and so that person when deciding among colleges he got accpeted into, will not chose the college with bad scolarships and thus one candidate got denied a spot in the college because the person who got accepted could not pay. I know its not fair but in thinking in terms of colleges it seems like the only reasonable method.

yeah, that's exactly it

none of the ivy league schools offer merit scholarships as a matter of academic principle
all are need blind (aren't aware of your financial situation when they decide to admit you) and have excellent financial aid to make sure every student can afford to go that gets in

what do you mean by academic principle?
