my parents can only afford to give me around 15,000 - 20,000 dollars a year for the next two years of my college undergraduate... i am interested in a business career/undergraduate degree while trying to pursue my goal of becoming a dentist and was wondering

since this is the case what would be the best decision financially and academically for me......to take out loans or not??

1)---UNC CHAPEL HILL (out of state around 32,000 a year)

2)----UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI (around 32,000 if i got the phi theta kappa scholarship)

3)---SUNY BINGHAMTON (for 15,000 instate) no loans but i feel it isnt up to par with the other schools listed...or is it

4)--- NYU (35,000 commute from long island or 50,000 boarding) dream school = shocker

5)---FORDHAM ----(26,000-32,000 depending on if i commuted or lived in bronx off campus)

6) ---UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND----(32,000 out of state)

NYU- great school, but if money is an issue, then it is a clear NO.
Fordham- transfer housing is very limited; fordham is also more expensive than you listed

(cross those two off the list)

suny-bing wouldnt be the worst thing(clearly not as good as others), b/c you still have to pay for dental school....

the reason i have fordham only costing 26,000 is because if your a commuter you receive a 6,000 scholarship just for being a commuter and if i wanted to live in the bronx off campus i can split rent with a few of my friends sp it would only be around 30,000...sorry i didnt explain previously

clearly NYU and UNC are much greater schools then the rest....u dont think taking out loans for 20,000 - 30,000 for the final two years of my undergraduate would be worth it if i went to one of the two....or would just going to binghamton and having no loans be my best bet

Since you want to go to dental school, SUNY Binghamton would be the wisest choice; prerequisites and test scores will matter more for admissions than the brand name of your undergraduate school. Limit your undergraduate debt as much as possible so that you can breathe during graduate school. If you're still interested in Chapel Hill after you get your undergraduate degree, they have a great dental school!
