Internaional Students Applying to American Medical Schools

Hi people,

My girlfriend is an International student from China. She spent two years in China studying Clinical Medicine and now she has transferred to my small college since last Fall. She is a double major in Biology and Chemistry and will study there for three years before graduating so in total she will have two years in China and three in America.

Her biggest worry is a lack of funding and programs in American Medical schools for International students. In a way her parents can front the tuition bills that medical schools require. We have been read and told that 1) It is very rare for International Students to be accepted. 2) She must do a PhD/MD program and 3)The competition of applying to only a top medical school with trying to be in that program.

I would personally feel very stressed about that situation. Have any other International Students been accepted into just an MD program? Does anyone know their friend's stories? Is there some magical way that she does not need to ask her parents to pay a huge down payment? We have read all over the internet but any personal knowledge would be great!

Thanks in advance

And this was a small list of Medical schools that are more likely to accept International Students:

Did your girlfriend take the MCAT?

She will be taking that this Summer and trying again next Summer
