Help if anyone has answers! Have a freshman at UT currently in CNS. Would like to internally transfer to CS in the fall, but has heard how hard it is to transfer. Expects to finish fall semester above 3.5 (that would be the lowest estimate - hopefully higher). Has 22 AP credits.
Questions - how did the internal transfers fare for fall 2015 (I heard fall 2014 was a nightmare). Wondering if it has settled down any.
Secondly, if he doesn’t get CS he would like to consider ECE. Can you apply to transfer to more than one thing and see what happens? Or can you only submit one internal transfer app??
Is it an option to stay in CNS - say in Chem or Math and minor in CS?
Your son can apply to more than one major as long as it is not in the same college. So he could not apply to CS and Chem at the same time since they are both in the College of Natural Sciences. He could however apply to CS and ECE since that is in Cockrell. He could definitely add CS as a minor. At UT they call them "certificates. " They have a CS certificate called “Elements of Computing” which would be a great addition to just about any major if you ask me. Good luck!!
Thank you so much @Nancyvh! So technically, you could get accepted by both majors and then you would choose? (I’m thinking positively over being rejected by both!!)
Thanks Nancyvh! Does anyone have any insight on the GPA expected at this point for internal transfer? Also, any classes that you can take to improve your chances?
