International Affairs w/ a Concentration in International Economics?

Hello,

I have recently been accepted to attend The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs and I am looking at majoring in their IA degree with a specific concentration in International Economics.

My questions are:

1) Do you know the average salary for this type of major post-college?

2) Is this major viewed as synonymous with a normal Political Science degree?

3) Is this a major that I could use to enter either the private or public sector?

Obviously in the world of economics you require MS and Ph. D to be making a better salary, but, base-wise, I've heard 65k+. Any other information on that?

Thanks for all your help.

I would like to address the issue of the 65k+, which is my understanding of being the wage for a MS in Economics’ wage range for a new MS with no work experience.

I see. But again, do you think there is definitely room to move up the pay scale with this degree?

Certainly. If you had a law degree or an MBA or MS Finance then you would be particularly appealing because you could turn that expertise in the foreign affairs/trade and Economics into something directly applicable to ply a trade such as arbitrage.
