oh i see. got confused 'cause his location says S. Korea

Rejected. 1530 SAT. I know they don't take that many international applicants, but it still hurts.

yy0712-Thx! I'm a US dual citizen so they probably didn't consider me as an international.
miniminimanimo-Oh! Hi, KMJ! :) Nice to see you. ;)

And I live in South Korea.

Got that FedEx!:)

Spacewarp got in!!!!
He got his BIG package today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is from Nepal :D

hehe ... purity ... in all ur excitement, did u forget abt ur package?

yah ... purity got that FedEx ... she'll have a tough time choosing between MIT, Cal, n dozens of others that are to follow ...

have fun!

I live in Tanzania, where the only addresses are PO boxes, to which Fedex cannot deliver. Street addresses don't exist here, as street names and house numbers are not standardized. I didn't get any bad news on Wednesday, so I suppose that means I'm accepted, but I emailed Caltech's admissions office and they wouldn't confirm anything. I then emailed again explaining the situation with addresses here and they have yet to reply. Any ideas?

Find out who your admissions officer is (ask the secretary) and call on the phone :)

I got a package from Caltech today !
I'm from s.korea!

Congrats!! do you live in seoul?

yay!
How many of your acceptees applied for aid?
'cause i got waitlisted and applied for aid

Sounds like a lot of Korean acceptees this year!;) I'm from Incheon, and I know four other koreans who've got the big envelop last week.. oh and by the way yy0712, i didn't apply for the aid.

How could there be only 15 internationals accepted?! 5 people were admitted from singapore... how can 1/3 of the acceptees come from one country?

I believe 15 international students needing financial aid were accepted, and more no-need students, too. If I'm not wrong.

I wrote to Tech's Office of Undergraduate Admissions and was told that "this year we had over 500 international applicants and have offered admission to 50 students." So I don't think it's just 15?

Still. Having S'poreans = 10% of intls is supercool. grins

yeah it is!:-) Wow I thought Caltech would have more int'l applicants though. MIT had >2000 int'l applicants.

really? i was told by an admissions officer that 15 was accepted out of 5/400, and the acceptance rate was around 3%. I dunno now

At least 8 were accepted from Korea, so I find it highly doubtful that it was only 15. Maybe he/she said 15 when he/she meant 50. Anyway Caltech sure did accept a lot more internationals than before.

It could be that 15 were those requiring complete financial aid, and the rest paid part of their way. The standards for the categories are different.
