International + Boarding School + Aid

This is the worst combination possible, I know. I’ve spent hours researching but I’m barely getting results. Just wanted to know of anyone on CC had any extra information.

  1. Are there any external organisations that gives aid or scholarships to internationals who want to attend American or Canadian boarding schools?
  2. Any (Co-ed or All-girls) Canadian boarding schools that gives aid to internationals.

I can only afford $35,000. Attending a boarding school seems highly unlikely for me but I still want to know if there is a chance.

There’s an all-girls boarding school in Toronto called Branksome Hall. The tuition is around $30,000 ($22,000 American) and an additional $30,000 ($22,000 American) boarding fee. (Together, they are about $44,000 American) They do offer financial aid, but I’m not sure if it’s for Canadian students only. You also could try Andover, Exeter, Choate, Deerfield, Groton, Lawrenceville or other predominant boarding schools in the East. Even though Branksome is considerably cheaper, most (if not all) of the American schools provide aid for international students. Some of the websites include an aid estimator and your family can decide further based on that.

Thank you so much for replying. It means a lot.
However, Branksome Hall is an IB school.
I’d prefer a Canadian boarding school but if the American ones give aid to internationals then I don’t mind going there.
I’ll check them out!

Check out United World Colleges (UWC) … If you’re selected by your country committee, your tuition and expenses are heavily subsidized. This is for a two-year IB program. There are participating boarding schools all over the world, on every continent, including the US and Canada.

George School gives FA to some internationals. Also an IB school. And not Canadian.

If you are an international student currently residing outside of the US or CanadaCheck out Rotary International for high school programs and scholarships to attend schools internationally (including those in the US and Canada). FWIW, check out Groton. Also, check out some of the traditionally single-gender schools (Emma Willard, Miss Porter’s) for girls and boys (Avon, Trinity-Pawling). You should also check out Choate’s Scholars Programs.

Thank you all for your help!
