SCHOOLS I"M LOOKING AT:

Williams
Cornell (ILR, then CAS)
U penn (wharton then CAS)
dartmouth
yale

don't worry about safeties, i have plenty of Canadian universities for that=)

can you guys suggest any other schools for me? I will be majoring in math/economics/finance

Oh and by the way, here's my hook:

Chinese female! hurray! lol!

thanks!

Cornell-match
Williams-match
Dartmouth-middle in match and reach(it has a really selective choice among internationl zone)
UPenn: Wharton-reach
Yale-reach for everyone(No one knows who will get admitted, though above 2300 and some ECs, or 2200 over and spectacular ECs have much more possibility)

thanks jamesyhr

so do you think i should retake my sAT I or SAT II chem?

Also i received 3rd place in Toronto in Commonwealth essay competition 2007, if that helps
( i hope that compensates for my low SAT I writing section…)

i will be retaking SAT I or SAT II this december, which one do you guys think is more important?

Will any schools i mentioned above look at January score as well?

At Cornell and Penn you can only apply to one school…

ok so let’s say i apply to ILR @ Cornell and Wharton @ Penn
what do you think my chances are?
thanks!

you can actually apply to a first and second choice school at cornell… i have a relative on admissions

Oh ok, but you definitely can’t at Penn…

Williams: Slight Reach
Cornell ILR : Match
Penn’s Wharton: Reach
Dartmouth: Slight Reach
Yale: Reach

If you were domestic, you’re almost in at all, but international will hurt a lot.

You are an international Chinese Female from Canada.

Williams : unlikely.
Cornell (ILR, then CAS) : possible / high-match-ish
U penn (wharton then CAS) : Wharton- no ; CAS-reach
dartmouth : unlikely
yale : good luck!

Have you considered UChicago for econ? I think you’ll have a decent chance there.

hi mrclassicfreak

why is Williams unlikey? can you recommend a top LAC that’s likely for international Chinese females from Canada?

also do u think raising SAT will help?

i only applied for those that give fin-aid to internationals, so UChicago is not on my list even though i know its super good

thanks for the feedbacks!

Cornell = rare aid for ints

really?

but does my being Canadian (YES!!!) make things better?

Williams–Slight REach
Cornell (ILR, then CAS)–Match
U penn (wharton then CAS)–Slight Reach at Wharton, match at CAS
dartmouth–Match to Slight Reach (closer to Match in my view)
yale–Slight Reach

Other schools to consider:
Georgetown (but not SFS), Columbia, Brown, Chicago, Stanford (chance at this school as an econ major–but probably slight reach), NYU (Stern) for finance

thanks!!!

another question:

I just took my SAT in Canada today…does anyone know if Canadians are supposed to get a DIFFERENT SAT paper than US students?

because I went on to the SAT section of this board and everyone is talking abt things i didnt see on my exam@@…

i didnt get the wrong paper, did i???

^there’re different slightly versions of SAT paper..

Most Colleges are need blind for Canadians.. so technically they are need blind towards you guys.. but I think it’ll be competitive.. Which Canadian doesn’t want free (well, almost free) in the US

yeah but the school she is applying to are some of the best in the nation and they don’t care about poor/rich ppl

Thanks guys!

A lot of people have told me that Williams is super competitive; one person even told me that it is more competitive than Harvard…

How competitive is it? Can some one give me some details? I’ve googled the ranks and stuff but it doesn’t seem THAT scary@@

thanks!

It should be the fact that lots of people are taking advantage of the need blind policy

AHHH!!!

now it all made sense lol

thanks!
