international political economy vs International Business(globe)

Can anyone compare and contrast these majors for me? S is applying and trying to pick a major @ RH

First of all, congrats on your selection of Fordham as one of your choices. I am hopeful he gets in and then comes to RH. My daughter is a freshman this year, in Queens Court Residential College (dorm) and is radiant. She is excelling in her work and is happier than I have seen her in years. We clearly made an excellent choice. But of course, fit is a very personal thing and one has to examine the situation independently.

I am no expert on the majors, but from what I gleaned in the bulletin and have considered with my D, International Political Economy is less business oriented and more economics and political science...leading to for example, law school or a graduate program in international relations or economics, perhaps at Columbia or NYU. Fordham has a superb MBA program in Beijing...and international business is where that is directed. Not that you can't criss cross the majors and end up in the same place, either. Just my thoughts.

My D is currently toying between pre law and history, with a double major in political science...or international political economy. The GOOD thing about Fordham is that the core requirements take almost two years, even with a load of AP courses under your belt, and you have until the spring of sophomore year to "declare". So lots of time to think about it and perhaps change your mind, even after you get here.

Fordham is a real gem. The kids are very, very tight. My D is sufficiently challenged, but not overwhelmed.....though two days a week she has four classes and that makes homework getting done a chore on a couple of nights...but otherwise, she is great! She has made lots of friends. Good luck!

I graduated from CBA. The International Business (G.L.O.B.E.) program is merely a designation. It requires that you be proficient in a certain language and take a certain number of GLOBE designated classes. It allows more flexibility than the IPE program since a student picks their own major. And keep in mind that GLOBE is specifice to the College of Business. I cannot really speak to the merits of the IPE program within Fordham College but I do have a friend who graduated from it and is now in law school.
