thnks...as i catch up on the on-goings of this board I remain totally mesmerized by how things have turned out for my international peers. I mean I read ur stats b4..u do not deserve this!! this is pretty odd but I guess we must admit that each year admissions for us specially those of us seeking fin aid gets soooo much harder. Honestly rejected and waitlisted with stats like yours...! Please dont allow yourself to feel bad or like you arent good enough...YOU ARE!! And no matter what happens you all will lead great futures and experience huge success as well....good luck to u all!!

elodie!!! hahaha!! congrats!!!

ellen, I think so? I'm a little unsure of what to say/do in my letter to them. I might ask my math teacher for an additional rec (she's also StuCo supervisor and I'm Secretary) and my friend to send in another copy of her recommendation she sent to another uni (which, incidentally I got rejected from. "Subject: Wesleyan Admissions Mailing Freeman Deny Decision Email" Heh.) and..hmmm...nothing really good or new happened since my app went in.

Yeah, my best friend's a freshmen at Carleton and I would just adore the chance to see her again. I don't get to meet a lot of people again after they move or I move. They/I don't return, because most of the times it's not in our home country that I met them.

GRINNELLLL

Thanks, that helps little bit.
still can't get over from this idea, though:

it's way much tougher this yr for intels to get in COLLEGES IN US with FA.

OK, here's the thing,

I got a rec from my math teacher when I was in US but for some reason I didn't get his common app rec form. I guess when I applied Emory, he used Emory rec form for it. Since I already got two recs from my Chem teacher and Eng teacher, I though I wouldn't need it anymore so I didn't give him common app rec form. Now I have a copy of his rec in KOREA (just a rec paper, not the form) and don't know if it's okay to send it just by itself w/o common app rec form.

dang it :( this doesn't make any sense at all!
I haven't talked to him since I left US - maybe since Jan. but I really think I need one from him for Carleton. Isn't it too rude? sigh... I'm so terrible..

eelen. sometims in life you have to be thick-skinned. if he can help you get into Carleton, why not approach him? i know we asians are too oncerned with what people percieve us (what a rude girl, suddenly come ask for help) but in america you will learn that many things will require you to be thick-skinned, or you'll always lose out.

talk to your teacher. if you feel bad, make sure you treat him or keep in contact with him after your application is over.

I agree with B. Ask him, approach him. Be proactive! Email him, tell him you've been waitlisted and you believe a recommendation from him would help you woo Carleton. Easy as pie. Send him a PDF file or a link to the Common App teacher recommendation form, ask him to print out and send it. And if you have to reimburse him... blink blink Dunno what to do, ah.

Thanks, banedon, yeah.... thick-skinned.... true...

I'm gonna email him but I can't find his email address. my HS homepage is bumbed and doesn't even have menus.... no faculty email menu.. I guess I gotta google up(just made up the word;) his email address.

and Izzy, I just sent email to Carleton asking if there's anything I could send for further chance of admission. If I am accepted with no aid, I won't go there, but right now I really want to get in there and will do whatever I could do. :)

Thank you guys!

yale, northwestern, upenn

waitlist: columbia

looks like im gonna apply again at the end of this year lols

Ah, nice idea asking them. I'm just thinking "more recs, a little brief thingy about why I think I'm a good fit for Carleton, maybe see if my IB mock exams results were good enough to send and lots of chocolate (for me)". :p

elodie: Harvard!!! Congrats! big smile
