International Relations: UBC or McGill?

Hey everyone,

Would it be better in terms of job prospects to go to UBC and major in IR or go to McGill and minor in IR and major in something like International Development Studies? I'm looking to work in consultancy for a few years after I graduate. Which department is stronger?

Thanks for your help!

anyone? pwease?

Sorry, I don’t know UBC, other than to hear that it is a fine school.

McGill has strong international ties but I don’t know the International Development Studies program other than it is in the Faculty of the Arts. If you are interested in being a consultant why not major in International Business within their B-School?

Hmm, that’s a possibility, but I’m not sure if McGill allows joint degrees at their management school and the Faculty of Arts. If I were to do Int Business I’d also want to minor in International Relations.

McGill is really strong in medicine and all the other science related majors. But if you decide to major in business, UBC’s sauder school of business is much more highly ranked than McGill’s Desautel. I don’t know, personally, I think McGill is a better school overall, but UBC’s business is more recognized. (sorry if that didn’t ans your question, I really have no idea about IR :S)
