Cornell doesn't have an IR major, but would it be possible for someone in CAS to create their own independent IR major?

you would do much of your work within the Gov't major...

I was considering a Gov't major but would prefer a more specific IR major.

Here's the thing; I'm going to NYU CAS for my freshman year, and I have GT for Cornell CAS. NYU has a really good IR major, but it's very selective - applicants apply soph year, and only 30-35 are selected per year, which is very little considering NYU's massive student body. Chances are I won't get selected, but I don't care that much because if I decide to use GT, I will transfer to Cornell after freshman yr and won't apply for NYU's IR at all. I'm just trying to explore my options and find out as much as I can.

molly...i'm positive that cornell has much more INTERNATIONAL courses to choose from....

we do have the IR minor which to me would be supplemented with other courses that have a global focus...
