International SAT scores

Singapore:
CR: 800
M: 800

W: 790 (Essay:10)

2390

^o_O CR 800 ... how...the...#$&@(*

Jk..congrats! CR killed me...650 ! But again my native language is Japanese.

Japanese rocks !!!

haru07....i guess in this international thread...only few have native language as English.....:rolleyes:...no wonder i also have 600..:D:D

My sentence completions were decent...the part I suck at is the reading comprehension...W...T....F was my first reaction when I saw the q's

don't worry haru07...that's the 'ugliness' of the SAT...we all have to live with it anyways..guess what....let's make a club here with the name "SAT's a blady crap" :D:D:D

i am damn sure that club would grow at the rate of nots....

The SAT I is a S H I T load of crap. It doesn't test anything. It just tests how well you take the test. ALL YOU NEED IS PRACTICE. THE RIGHT KIND OF PRACTICE. I gave the SAT totally unprepared and got a 600 in Verbal & Writing. I am not bad at english. So why did I score so low(comparitively)? Its because I didn't know what the test was all about. I did a little bit of practice, and in one month brought my Verbal to 710 and Writing to 730. If you seriously think that in one month I actually improved my english - you're mistaken. All I did was understand how the test works and what type of answers work.

ya...it really is a bs.....good example lakshya M

Although SAT is really a crap for me.......but I hav a second thought to it.....
the thought which ''literally'' proves the ''importance'' of SAT.......here it is-
1.Well,as we know SAT 1 tests our english.........coz,if we ere to go to a ''top'' college n askd to write a ''synopsis''(obiviously u will b requied to do so...)..n if anyone is able to find out even a single error in that writing(I mean grammatical...)..then,it will seriously affect the REPUTATION of that uni...n no uni would want that thing..........
2.As,we r int'ls,the local students hav an advantage of english...n SAT prep...n uni wont want all their students to b ''int'ls''.........
Hope u got my points........
But still,I dont giv it a ****.......

CR has nothing to do with grammar... >_> My writing's 760 tho-

i like the SAT solely because getting a score of 600-650+ in CR means that you don't have to take the TOEFL (for most colleges)

India
I got :

CR 570
MA 670
WR 610

Total = 1850

Now I wasn't expecting to mess CR and WR up so will it be possible for me to make up for it in my TOEFL?

what's ur toefl

axeman1986: Depends on the college but TOEFL doesn't 'make up' for SAT..

Took World Hist, Bio E, and Math 2 today. Bombed 'em all. :D

yeah toefl doesnt 'make up' for sat cr/w.

I like the sat. I just dont like the 4 hrs. I have been speaking english for a loooong time but I still got 670. I'm ranked 1 for mathematics in the school. But the highest math score I've ever been able to get is 690.

SAT is just a use of common measure. How else would one college admin judge 2 differnet people from 2 different schools, taking 2 different courses, from 2 different cities, from 2 different countries? I think SAT is just one starting point for them to base judgements upon. SATs arent EVERYTHING (i'm talking about top colleges here) but they are still something. Why would colleges still want to use the SAT year after year?

what I hate about the SAT is the damn curve.

In some exams (e.g. mine -- 2 wrong == 740 , my score)

and in others ( 1 wrong == 800 , now I do know that the test would have been comparatively harder, but then again I'd rather sit for a SAT with a curve like this one ANYDAY )

yeah...no wonder its a crap....

Yeah, the whole purpose of the SATs was to have a common exam which everyone was required to give. This way its easier to compare.

I agree that SAT ''2''',is a way or perhapes a best way to compare...but I dont see any ''exciting'' reason y SAT 1 r compulsory to int'ls,I mean,.....wat a person, for eg,in engineering hav to do with mastering in CR n W..???isnt the TOEFL/IELTS enough for a proof???I hav never seen the use of that leveld(SAT) english in this field....on the contrary,TOEFL/IELTS prove to b the most useful(if u dont know english)!!!....
I dont see any valid reason for colleges in US to make evry int'l student take SAT1............by this, they will surely loose those brilliant students who score low in SAT1(~1800)...n score great in their SAT2(~2300+)....
No other country requires that kinda thingy n still their colleges r simply challengin Ivies...n some hav expertly surpassd them......so,here I see no reason for the unis in US do something that absurd......but we r not in control......thats the problem, otherwise we would hav changd that thing........
I mean,I m sometimes surprised to see that top unis in US followin this kinda things!!!!Arnt the english proof n SAT 2 scores n our ECs,stats r enough?
