Hahaha well, it is true right? People always call me insane for doing extra-curriculars and aiming ABOVE* a 6 average. And I supposedly go to one of the more competitive schools in the Netherlands. XD

Same here. What is your average btw?

Well, my expected final grades are around a 8.7 average, and
have always scored something around that, although some of my teachers don’t really understand that grades can be pretty important and don’t gave higher than 7s, which sucks. I still managed 8ths mostly for those courses (most notoriously Dutch, which I am actually really good at), but it remains a problem. Yours?

Edit: Are you sending in all your grades btw? My teacher said that my predicted grades would probably be sufficient, although I thought you should send in grades for all years. I’m not really sure what he decided on in the end?

im predicted a 8.5 average. I have begun scoring that in my junior year, but grades keep improving(finally started working:P). Dutch is one of those courses at our school where nobody gets high grades(i had the highest last trimester which was a 7.8). Chemistry is my specialty(9.7 average, hehe) for the rest around 8/9 but a 7 for math:(.
Well i’m sending my entiry high school transcript, and most importantly my schoolexamencijfer overzicht. We won’t be able to send the actual grades until at the end of the year right (presuming you meant the CE grades)? If the universities ask for our final report, I will send it, but if they do not ask, I guess i will not. Are you able to send your midyear report btw? I have trimester, in stead of the quartarly periods most dutch schools do, and therefore I cannot make the feb 1 deadline(I would basically be just sending the SSR again). I heard the midyear is not very important, but I was just wondering.
btw what did your school indicate what the A/B/C/D/F thing was.
I had
A >7.5(or >8 don’t remember)
B 6.5-7.5
C 5.5-6.5
D 4-5.5
F <4

Oh, my predicted grades are for my overall final average of this year. My CE grades should be a bit higher for some subjects I hope -Maths too, indeed, I am at a 8 now, but think I can score a 9 on the CE.

We have semesters at my school, so I’ll be able to send in a midyear report, but they are aware of the fact that foreign schoolsystems work differently, so they will not held it against you I think. You might have to send in the little counselor-thingy though?

I don’t think my school used the whole ABCD thing, but just stuck with the 1/10 scale. My courses should be translated though! I HOPE!

wiskunde A or B? What profile(?) do you do actually?

Wiskunde B; I take E&M with a lot of languages. So no science for me, that is why I’m self-studying for the SATIIs and APs!

E&M with wiskunde B, thats a rarity:P. I have C&M(I discovered that when I was doing a presentation for the freshman about choosing a profile:P), N&G, N&T. A 9 is wiskunde B, wish I had those brains and concetration, it just does not interest me at all:P

Me neither, its going to take quite a lot of work! Are you taking maths A then?

no B also, but just because it is better if I do that. I think i could score higher, but its the only subject that just does not interest me. Some things do, but the thing that you had to proof that some triangle had a right angle or whatnot, I just do not see the point of that:P
I get the impression that your stats are waaaayy better than mine btw

Oh no! not at all! Your SATs and SATIIs are a lot higher, except for CR maybe!
And our GPA is somewhat similar… You were the one who scared me! I was praying all the other Dutch applicants wouldnt have any ECs and a 1400 on the SAT, haha! I guess I was wrong.

hahaha i thought the same!, well we have completely different interests, so im not sure were are competing with each other that much. Are you coping with the application stress btw?

oh I’m dying! I still have to write most of my essays, and my history teacher refuses to answer her phone. What is your top choice btw? Princeton?

The interest thing is true by the way, I am the ultimate humanities/social sciences person, and you are more into science right?

haha yeah completely science, although I have other interests (chinese, piano and politics) but I don’t want to major in those. I guess my dream school is Princeton yes, but I set my hopes on a more realistic school, Cornell(my brother also goes there).
thank god i’m completely finished(turned everything in the 15th), wish you the best of luck:P. Which prompt are you using/used for the princeton application. They were all pretty hard I think, but the best ones (i did the unanswerable question one). Whats your favorite school? If you want you could send me some essays and I could look over them. I dont know if you’re comfortable with that

I am so jealous you’ve finished everything already! Cornell is a great school too though, pretty amazing that your brother goes there; my sister just studies here in the Netherlands! And Princeton’s just amazing of course… I am sure you have a really good chance to get in! My favourite school at this point is probably Harvard, although I like my others almost equally (Columbia, Amherst and Princeton) (I’m only applying to four because I have some offers in the UK already). I have written half a Princeton essay, also the unanswerable question one, but I might switch to the own quote one.

I can send you some of my essays later on if you want! At this point I only have some really rough drafts, so they need a lot of reshaping!

I like harvard too, but I prefer princeton because their focus on undergrads and their social life(I heard cornell and princeton are the party schools of the ivies). Harvard supposed to be pretty great socially too (Thats a very important factor for me).
Sure pm me the essays you want me to look at, rough drafts is also fine:P

Yeah! When I visited Harvard, the campus seemed pretty vibrant; and I heard they do have parties etc. And its near Boston!

I first have to redraft my essays a bit, but when I finish them, I’ll send them over!

I have to go iceskating (… meeh.) now! Bye!

You HAVE to go iceskating, poor you:P
Have fun!
