International Scholars Program

Does anyone have more info on the ISP? Do you have to apply to get accepted?

Just considering it, but I'm worried that I'll load myself down the first year. I don't want to take on too much, too fast.

Thanks!

You do have to apply (at least that was the case two years ago). There is more work, but apparently not overwhelming because my d has thought it to be worth it. She definitely finds the program interesting, and some of the international guest speakers on campus have paid a special visit to her ISP class. There was an extra January term in her Frosh year, but the school paid for it, gave free housing, and even paid the students grocery vouchers. I think her ISP cohorts have dwindled somewhat over the last two years, either because of a change in interest, a reaction to the work, or other unknowns. I think it’s possible to join your sophomore year (or, of course, drop it after the first semester). Good luck with your decision.

Thank you for the info!

I was also wondering about this. Do you apply for the program before you are enrolled in the college, or after?

I know (almost certainly) that she applied after her acceptance, but before signing up for courses. I wonder if information was mailed to her. I can’t find this info on line, so you may want to contact the Int’l Studies Office to be sure. Good luck

My son will be attending next fall, and he just received a letter, which I assume all incoming freshman receive, asking him if he wants to apply.
