International Student Admission Standards: Easier?

I heard something to that effect because the students paid more and therefore brought in more money. True or not?

Also on an unrelated note; does Berkeley apply affirmative action? As a canadian I have no clue how that works in the states.

Thanks in advance,

I think Affirmative Action applies to all U.S. public schools...

Do you remember Bakke from U.S. history????????

im interested too

I'm pretty sure that international students are kept to the same - if not higher - standards as out of state students are (which are significantly higher than in-state). I've heard Berkeley's reputation is really good internationally, and I'd assume the international applicants are pretty self-selective considering they have to pay so much.

From what I've heard on the boards, the standards are way higher because they only allow so many out of state and out of country applicants. Also, there is no affirmative action in California public schools because of prop. 209. Private schools still do it though.

completely false

international standards are MUCH higher than even out of state
international acceptance rate - 11 (or 12)%
out of state acceptance rate - 20%
not to mention berkeley is really well-known internationally so you get a lot of top applicants from all countries
