International Student Admission to UCLA

I'm 16 and in year 11. I live in sydney, australia and its my dream to go to UCLA!
i wont be applying until the end of next year but i have no idea what exams and
documents they need when I apply and i was wondering if anyone had any information that would help me :)

and if anyone knows what my chances would be of getting it that would be great! i'm an A grade student who does extra curricular activities (even though i figure thats what the majority of international applicants are :P) :)

Thank you!

ACT or SAT
(SAT subject tests, possibly for engineering)
Toefl if you don’t learn in English at your school.
make sure you satisfy their requirements (can be found on website)

UCLA does not do teacher recommendations. The application is quite easy. You self-report your scores and then send in your transcript when you’re admitted.

Your other documents (student visa, etc) can be finalized after offers of admissions.

Good Luck.

thank you :)

The biggest issue will be ability to pay $55K for probably 5 years. It’s getting harder to get out in 4. If you have the money, As and a 2050 SAT score, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.

yeh thats my biggest problem at the moment  thanks for the advice!

@Waverly you know, having the money and a decent sat score does not really guarantee you anything. I am an international student so it’s clear that I would have been willing to pay around 55k as I applied and I had 2030 sat score. I was rejected. Not only UCLA, but at UCB and USC too. That being said, having funds gives you no edge over other applicants.

^I agree…the international acceptance rate was only 12% or so at UCB, maybe UCLA was similar. There are enough internationals with the gpa and the scores. Especially in competitive majors. But 1-5% class rank with 2200+ and 750+ subject scores have a good chance. Even though UCs say subject scores are not necessary, I think for internationals, it carries weight.
To the OP: Sydney, Australia ? There are plenty of folks here who would love to trade places with you
